Get Smart began with a conversation between a pastor and a teacher in the middle of a Nor'Easter in November 2009.  They talked about the challenges and struggles that young people face on a day to day basis that keep them from living out their purpose.  The conversation led to a group of church members and school teachers getting together to make a plan on how to support students and their families who often feel invisible.

On February 2010, the first Get Smart night started with 5 families from a variety of backgrounds.  Get Smart now serves over 60 families and continues to grow as students invite friends and family members from school and the community to join our family.  In addition, Get Smart continues to support students that have graduated as they pursue sustainable employment, start their own families and/or continue their education.
